Here’s a list of the top five cleanest restaurants in Richmond Hill, based on available Department of Health inspection report data since 2017. This is for any restaurant with a Richmond Hill address, not just those in the city limits.

A restaurant not making this list absolutely does NOT mean they are dirty or negative in any possible way – they just didn’t earn a spot as the best-of-the-best.

I didn’t consider any fast food, pizza delivery, or chain restaurants. I will be making a separate list for those in the near future.

Also not included were hotels, nursing homes, or private establishments. I didn’t include any “low risk” restaurants like The Ice Cream Stop and Way Station Coffee either. They are inspected less frequently which generates less reports. Both of those restaurants have never received anything less than 100%, according to available data.

Lastly, based on the time in which the inspections happened, one restaurant could possibly have more inspections to date than another. This could impact their appearance on the list.

If you leave a comment asking why a particular business wasn’t included, I probably won’t give an exact answer. The reason being, this is not supposed to be a negative post towards those that didn’t make the list. This list is in order starting with the cleanest restaurant in Richmond Hill.

1Charlie Graingers

Located at 10010 Ford Ave Suite A in Richmond Hill

Heading up our list is Charlie Graingers and for good reason. They have nailed every inspection they have ever had, including 5 routine inspections and 1 initial. Way to go!

Number of inspections available: 6
Type of inspections: 5 routine, 1 initial
Date range of inspections: 1/3/17 – 5/21/19
Number of 100% inspections: 6 out of 6

Photo: Game Time Sports Bar

2Game Time Sports Bar

Located at 18482 GA-144 in Richmond Hill

It was literally a photo finish between Game Time Sports Bar and Charlie Graingers. Game Time actually has more inspections available at 7, with 6 being routine and 1 initial inspection. The only reason Game Time didn’t come in first was because they got a few points knocked off during one routine inspection for something very minor. They are a VERY close 2nd place!

Number of inspections available: 7
Type of inspections: 6 routine, 1 initial
Date range of inspections: 12/13/16 – 8/23/19
Number of 100% inspections: 6 out of 7
Score of non-100% inspection: 97%

Photo: Bubba’s Bistro

3Bubba’s Bistro (Formerly Southern Image)

Located at 3881 US Highway 17 in Richmond Hill

Bubba’s Bistro, formerly known as Southern Image Restaurant and Buffet, is crowned as 3rd on this very close list featuring the best-of-the-best in terms of cleanest restaurants in Richmond Hill. This one surprised me a bit when you take into consideration the stigma surrounding buffets in general. Bubba’s sure proved that wrong.

Number of inspections available: 6
Type of inspections: All routine
Date range of inspections: 4/18/17 – 8/28/19
Number of 100% inspections: 5 out of 6
Score of non-100% inspection: 98%

Photo: Marker 107

4Marker 107

Located at 2943 Kilkenny Rd in Richmond Hill

Marker 107 could have easily been number 1 on this list if they just had one more inspection available. With only 5 routine reports (which I weighed heavier than initial reports) showing at the time of writing, they have a perfect score – but with only 5 reports.

Number of inspections available: 5
Type of inspections: All routine
Date range of inspections: 5/4/17 – 6/20/19
Number of 100% inspections: 5 out of 5

5Molly MacPherson’s

Located at 3742 US-17 in Richmond Hill

Coming in tied for 4th, and only in the 5th place position because their name comes alphabetically after Marker 107, is Molly MacPherson’s. Just like with Marker 107, they could have come in tied for 1st if they had one more routine inspection available. They too had a perfect 5 out of 5.

Number of inspections available: 5
Type of inspections: All routine
Date range of inspections: 5/9/17 – 6/17/19
Number of 100% inspections: 5 out of 5

This data was collected between 9/9/19 and 9/13/19 and is subject to change.
