Strong Winds, Not Tornado, Causes Damage at Evans Army Airfield

Fort Stewart, GA: At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, straight-line winds caused damage and minor injuries on Evans Army Airfield at Fort Stewart.

Initial call made by dispatch. It was later determined that this was straight-line winds, not a tornado.

Numerous first responders arrived on scene and set up a staging area.

Minor injuries have been reported with zero fatalities. Patients were treated at the scene and released.
