The city of Richmond Hill has chosen to name Captain Brendon Greene, a five-year-veteran of the department, as the new fire chief – making Greene just the third chief in 22 years.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Greene during a short called meeting which followed a lengthy work session on Thursday evening.
Greene will replace Ralph Catlett who retired in December of 2018. Catlett was appointed in 2014 and was a 45-year-veteran in firefighting.
Naming a fire chief was one of the topics discussed during the recent fire fee implementation. It took less than a month for the city to make good on their word.
Chief Greene has dedicated his life to Richmond Hill since moving here from Massachusetts 5 years ago. He created the annual Spring Fling event which raises money to help those in need around Richmond Hill. They hosted their 3rd consecutive event on April 13, 2019.
