Family Promise is a non-profit organization established based on the recognition that the solution to poverty needs many dimensions. The organization considers poverty to be complex. Family Promise is based in Bryan County. The efforts of the organization include the integration of educational outreach, smart programming, effectual policies, and the practical work of many volunteers. They also cater for homeless families by making provision for food, shelter, and support services. The organization promotes the independence and financial stability of families through a partnership with local churches and social service agencies. The local churches provide shelter for the program participants at night. However, during the day, the participants search and apply for employment at the Family Promise day center.

The 501(c)(3) charity help the families connect with likely employers at the day center. The day center also serves as temporary housing, providing personal housing units for families for a short period until they become self-sufficient.

As part of the efforts to support Family Promise, Spirit of Peace Lutheran Church in Richmond Hill offered a benevolent donation of $2000 to Family Promise during the church service on June 2. The donation was given to the Chairwoman of the organization Chris Hasson and Network Director Candice Fife. Hasson and Fife highlighted the mission, goals, history, and recent achievements of the organization. Likewise, they mentioned what the organization intends to do to reduce homelessness in Bryan County.

The Chairwoman stated that the donation would help the organization to move forward in achieving its goals and reach out to the needy. She further explained that additional fund is necessary to curb the rising cases of homelessness. This is important, as there are 24 families currently waiting for its services. The organization desires to grow for the capability to support every qualified individual.

The Spirit of Peace Lutheran Church was established in 2005 and is at 15985 Highway 144 in Richmond Hill. The ministry of the church is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the promotion of a worship lifestyle and loving service through word and prayer, such that every child of God will have the knowledge of the joy of Christ that transforms. Rev. Dave Rasmussen is the pastor of the church.
